Trip overview

Everest Base Camp (EBC) Trek is the adventure of a lifetime; it’s more than just a trek, it is the journey above the clouds. The EBC lies in the core of Khumbu Valley. Khumbu Valley itself is a great tourist destination for tourists around the globe. EBC is the stunning terminus for those who wish to see the spectacular view of the entire Mount Everest just so near to them. Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world with an elevation of 8,848m. Mount Everest was named after Sir George Everest, and it is also called Sagarmatha popularly in Nepal. It was Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay who first reached the summit in 1953. They had chosen the western part through the Khumbu Icefall. You will be trekking with all of these historical moments in your mind and magnificent views all over you. Just remember one thing, it’s a dream come true for a trekker, The EBC trek is a perfect voyage for a lifetime.

The trail begins from Lukla (2,828m), lukla is a busy town located in the Khumbu region. Khumbu region is the homeland of the mighty Sherpa and the mysterious Yeti. Peaks like AmaDablam (6,812), Lhotse (8516), Makalu (8,463), Pumori (7,161), Nuptse (7,855), and other high peaks are standing tall to welcome you to this region. A couple of weeks of your life would be the best time to discover mammoth landscapes, Sherpa-Tibetan cultures, and high altitudes. This is by far the best place in the world for those who adore nature and breathtaking gifts from nature. The EBC trek follows the trail along with the Dudh Koshi River elevating along with the forest of Rhododendron. On the way, you can likely see several endangered species like Blue Sheep and Musk Deer. This region is home to snow leopards, but most of the time they are not nearby. Different species of birds like Himalayan Pheasant, Danphe, and Munal will be seen during this journey. Continuing the journey, we will reach Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar (3500m) is the stop point for trips to Everest and other peaks in this zone. This town is popular with trekkers, especially for altitude acclimatization. This small town is above the altitude sickness threshold therefore most trekkers prefer to spend at least two nights acclimatizing.

The route continues from Namche Bazaar via the Imja Khola River to the valley below Everest. Following the traditional route via Lobuche and Gorakshep, the trail takes to the destination; The Everest Base Camp. After reaching the EBC, we then climb Kalapatthar, to explore the panoramic views of Mt. Everest and Other Himalayas. It’s the best feeling to feel Mount Everest right in front of your eyes, the sensation is simply magnificent.

We await to serve you our service and share our experience with you.

Day by day itinerary

Follow your adventure step by step with our detailed daily plan. Every day brings new experiences and memorable moments. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the journey.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1400m) & Transfer to the Hotel

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our airport representative with a SST placard will greet you with a traditional khada (ceremonial scarf). After immigration and baggage collection, you will be transferred to your hotel in the lively Thamel. The remainder of the day is free to rest or explore the bustling streets filled with trekking shops and cafes.

Day 02: Fly from Kathmandu – to Lukla, and trek to Phakding (2,800m)

Early morning transfer to the domestic terminal for the spectacular 30-minute flight to Tenzing-Hillary Airport, Lukla, one of the world’s most thrilling mountain airstrips. After meeting the full trek crew, begin trekking on a gentle descending trail above the Dudh Koshi valley. Pass colourful prayer wheels and the large mani stone at Chheplung, then cross the first suspension bridge to reach Phakding.

Day 03: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazzar (3,440m)

Today is the first serious ascent day. The trail follows the east bank of the Dudh Koshi, crossing several high suspension bridges (including the famous Hillary Bridge). After the Sagarmatha National Park entrance at Monjo (permit check), a steep 600 m climb on switchbacks brings you to Namche Bazaar, the vibrant Sherpa capital. First views of Everest appear just above the village on clear afternoons.

Day 04: Acclimatization at Namche Bazzar (Hike to Everest View Hotel)

Morning hike to Everest View Hotel (3,880 m) or Khumjung/Khunde villages (optional). This 400-500 m ascent and descent is critical for proper acclimatization. Visit the Sherpa Culture Museum, Sagarmatha National Park Visitor Centre, and the Saturday market (if timed right). Rest in the afternoon, drink plenty of fluids and avoid alcohol.

Day 05: Trek from Namche Bazzar to Dibuche (3,870m)

A scenic day with superb mountain views. The trail contours high above the Dudh Koshi, offering panoramic vistas of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam. Descend to Phungi Thanga for lunch, then climb steeply through rhododendron forest to Tengboche Monastery (3,860 m), the spiritual heart of the Khumbu. Attend evening puja if timing permits. Continue 20 minutes downhill to peaceful Dibuche.

Day 06: Trek from Dibuche to Dingboche (4,243m)

Cross the Imja Khola on a suspension bridge and climb steadily toward Pangboche (3,930 m), the highest year-round Sherpa settlement. The trail then opens into alpine meadows with stunning views of Ama Dablam. Dingboche is a summer yak-grazing village surrounded by stone walls to protect barley fields.

Day 07: Acclimatization Day in Dingboche

Essential rest day above 4,000 m. Morning hike to Nangkartshang Peak (5,080 m), a 3-4 hour round trip offering dramatic close-up views of Makalu (8,485 m) and Amphu Lapcha. This active rest helps your body produce more red blood cells. Afternoon free to relax and hydrate.

Day 08: Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche (4,940m)

A shorter but steadily ascending day. The trail climbs above the Pheriche valley, passing the memorial chortens for climbers lost on Everest. The landscape becomes stark and barren as you approach the Khumbu Glacier moraine. Lobuche is a cluster of lodges beneath the dramatic Lobuche Peak.

Day 09: Trek from Lobuche to Everest Basecamp and back to Gorakshep (5,170m)

One of the most memorable days. Trek along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier, passing the Italian Pyramid research station, to reach Gorakshep, the last lodge settlement. After a quick lunch, continue to Everest Base Camp. Stand beneath the infamous Khumbu Icefall and take in the atmosphere of the world’s highest campsite (seasonal expedition tents visible March-May). Return to Gorakshep for the night.

Day 10: Trek from Gorakshep to Kalapatthar 5,545m and back to Pheriche (4,371m)

Very early start (4-5 am) for the steep climb to Kala Patthar, the classic Everest viewpoint. On clear mornings, witness a breathtaking 360° panorama of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Pumori, and the Khumbu Icefall glowing golden at sunrise. Descend to Gorakshep for breakfast, then continue downhill through Lobuche and Duglha to the greener valley of Pheriche.

Day 11: Trek from Pheriche to Namche Bazzar

A long but mostly downhill day. Retrace the trail through Pangboche and Tengboche, enjoying different perspectives of Ama Dablam and the monastery. The rhododendron forests feel especially welcoming after days above the treeline.

Day 12: Trek from Namche to Lukla

The final trekking day, long but exhilarating. Steep descent to the Hillary Bridge, then follow the Dudh Koshi valley back to Lukla. Celebrate the completion of the trek with your crew in the evening.

Day 13: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu and transfer to the Hotel

Early morning flight back to Kathmandu (weather permitting). Transfer to your hotel with the rest of the day free for shopping, spa treatments, or simply relaxing. Evening: Farewell dinner hosted by Seven Summit Treks.

Day 14: Sightseeing around Kathmandu valley

Full-day guided tour of UNESCO World Heritage sites: Boudhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, and Kathmandu Durbar Square (or Bhaktapur/Swayambhunath depending on group interest). This day also serves as a buffer in case of flight delays from Lukla.
